Conquerors Grab Lead in Sixth Inning for Victory Over Santa Rosa Christian

WFBA’s Lady Conquerors snagged a late lead and defeated Santa Rosa Christian 11-7 on Thursday. The game was tied at seven with Conquerors batting in the bottom of the sixth when Ayanna Kelker singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.

Santa Rosa Christian scored six runs in the second inning, but the Conquerors still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Santa Rosa Christian came thanks to an error on a ball put in play by Jewell Swain and Kathryn McMackin and a single by Caroline Opager.

Mimi Gooden was in the circle for Santa Rosa Christian. She allowed six hits and 11 runs over six innings, striking out 16 and walking one. Allie Whiting got the complete game win for WFBA, with 6 strikeouts to 5 hits.

WFBA collected six hits on the day. Alyssa Johnson and Kelker both collected multiple hits for the Conquerors.
