Both teams were strong in the pitcher’s circle on Friday, but Santa Rosa Christian was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over the Lady Conquerors on Friday. Allie Whiting started the game for the Conquerors and recorded 22 outs. The Conquerors lost despite out-hitting Santa Rosa Christian three to two.
Mimi Gooden was on the rubber for Santa Rosa Christian. She went eight innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out 23 and walking zero.
Whiting led things off on the rubber for the Conquerors. She surrendered one run on two hits over seven and a third innings, striking out 11.
Addi Johnson, Whiting, and Alyssa Johnson each collected one hit to lead WFBA.
Jewell Swain led Santa Rosa Christian with two hits in four at bats. Santa Rosa Christian was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.
The highlight of the event was a memorial to honor Coach Brandon McMackin. Coach “Mac” taught girls in both dugouts during his time at Gospel Projects, Upwards Basketball, and Santa Rosa Christian. He was eternally healed from brain cancer on 11/1/2018.
