The purpose of West Florida Baptist Academy is to provide “Academic Excellence” in a “Distinctly Christian” environment!

Academic Excellence

We use a structured, advanced, Bible-based curriculum. Each subject is organized to progress systematically from year to year so that no concepts are left out. Fun and interesting methods keep the classroom exciting and moving towards their goals each year.

Our phonics-based reading program is used in our kindergarten through third grade classes. This system has many of our children reading as early as four years old. It is our goal to have every student reading proficiently with understanding and enjoyment by the end of third grade.

Abeka grammar is heavily emphasized in fourth through twelfth grade. Many schools have stopped teaching the fundamentals of grammar. Our students excel in grammar and score well above the national average on the Standardized Achievement Tests as well as the ACT.

In mathematics, we implement use of Saxon curriculum, which has proven success in preparing students for standardized testing.

The teacher is one of the greatest keys to academic excellence. Every one of our teachers is qualified for the position we hire them to fill. Our desire is for every teacher to be the right kind of Christian example first as well as take a personal interest in every one of their students. We go through a very thorough hiring process to ensure that our teachers will properly be able to fill our needs.

Distinctively Christian

We want to be very clear in the fact that we are not a private school but a Christian School. Our primary focus is to teach and equip students to serve Christ all the days of their lives!

Every day begins with a Bible class. Every subject is taught from a Biblical perspective. We use the King James Version of the Bible. K5–12th grade has a Chapel Service once a week where the Bible is preached. The Bible is the only source of absolute truth and everything we teach and believe is centered on that truth.

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” A Christian is somebody whose life has been changed resulting in the fact that they are now different from the world. We want everything about our school to be different from what our government and world provide. Our environment, education, dress, music, discipline, and philosophy are totally different from what the public school system has to offer.

We take great pride in the fact that we can offer you something different! If you are looking for “Academic Excellence” in a “Distinctly Christian” environment West Florida Baptist Academy is the place for you.
