In 1979 Stewart Street Baptist Christian School opened its doors with seventy-six students. Jerry Walker, the pastor at the time, saw a great need to provide young people with a Bible- based education that emphasized spiritual training, character building, and high academic standards. The A.C.E. (Accelerated Christian Education) program was used in the beginning and was gradually changed to the traditional classroom format.

In the fall of 1987, we opened classes in a new building with a new name, West Florida Baptist Academy; and a new principal, Alan Stewart. He later became the Pastor of our church and remains the administrator of our school. The vision that was begun by Jerry Walker over thirty years ago is still the driving force today.
